In an effort to move people beyond a crisis and onto a more self-sustaining life, Community Action of Skagit County is working to align our internal programming to move families forward. How do we do that? By providing families with tools that will help them articulate and manifest their goals in the areas of employment education and financial staibilty. We are orienting people to think beyond the immediacy of crisis assistance. Whether that be getting a job, getting a better job, or increasing their income, Equpping for Success is a toolbox of opportunities facilitated by trained volunteers to help guilde and nurture individuals with the desire to break the cycle of poverty.

Tools include:

  • Job Club - a support group for those seeking work that includes an educational component;
  • Weekly access to a computer and resource lab for job search, filling out job applications, housing search, assistance with resume writing and cover letters;
  • Workshops - including Renter's Education, Financial Stability, Essential Skills and Workplace Communications.
